Two New Unique Ways to Discover Moore County

360° Tour

The Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) has announced the launch of the first of its kind virtual tour for the Pinehurst area, using advanced virtual and augmented technology produced by SkyNav. Visitors and event planners can now experience the Home of American Golf using high-definition panoramic imaging that creates a 360-degree world including 3D objects, interactive text and image galleries, video integrations, and augmented reality.

Points of interest in the tour include Pinehurst Resort, the Village of Pinehurst, downtown Southern Pines, downtown Aberdeen, Carthage, and dozens of other places. By clicking a mouse, travel from town to town from above and also check out street level scenes and businesses.

This 3D technology allows visitors to either “fly” or go “ground level” to explore an area, fully immersing themselves via one of the CVB’s multiple videos, hotspots, view imagine galleries, or click-throughs to partner websites. Users can also share the tour via social channels and email, view the areas via Google maps, and follow the CVB’s social media channels.

“For people who are thinking about a visit to the Home of American Golf, this is a great way to understand the area better before arriving here,” said Phil Werz, president and CEO of the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area CVB.

To take the tour, go to the CVB website at HomeofGolf.com and click 360 Tour at the top of the homepage.

Sandhills Wine Trail Passport

The CVB has also launched the Sandhills Wine Trail Passport program for wine lovers, another unique way to discover and enjoy Moore County. The Wine Trail features six locations and encourages holders to earn stamps and win prizes while exploring selected local wine outlets.

The Sandhills Wine Trail begins on Saturday, November 19. The passports are free and can be obtained at the CVB office in Southern Pines, or at any of the six participating Sandhills Wine Trail locations. Passport holders are eligible for prizes once they visit all locations and receive special logoed stamps from all participating businesses.

Passport participants include Cypress Bend Vineyards in Wagram; Sandhills Winery in Seven Lakes; Triangle Wine Company and the Wine Cellar, both located in Southern Pines; the Village Wine Shop in Pinehurst and the James Creek Cider House in Cameron.

With the start of the Sandhills Wine Trail, the beer-related Sandhills Pour Tour program will continue. Both passports include several QR codes with links to great shopping, dining, golf information and more. There are also links to area hotels and transportation.

Stamps for either passport can be obtained at all locations with any purchase. “The consumer can complete either passport program completely alcohol-free and there is no time deadline,” said Werz. “So people can take their time, enjoy the beer or wine outlets and the shopping, dining and more in each town.”

The CVB has created a special landing page for more detailed information including a list of local events hosted by passport partners. Visit www.HomeofGolf.com/SandhillsWineTrail for more details and information about the program.
