The Village of Pinehurst hosts “Live After 5”; the Town of Southern Pines has its “First Friday”; and the Town of Aberdeen presents “Sunday Exchange”, and all are designed to provide an exceptional outdoor listening experience for the community as part of the local creative cultural scene.  In addition to live music, the events feature activities for the kids, food trucks, and local craft beer.

Live After 5

Held on the second Friday of the month from April through October, Live After 5 is from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. at Tufts Memorial Park in Pinehurst.  Here are the remaining dates for this summer:

August 10:  The Royal Suits, an energetic band performing current Top 40, indie rock, funk, classic rock, Motown, and more.

September 14:  Liquid Pleasure, an iconic band whose great blend of music is synchronized with fun dance choreography.

October 12:  band yet to be announced.

First Friday

As the name says, this concert series is held on the first Friday of the month from May through October starting at 5:30 p.m. on the grassy knoll next to the Sunrise Theater in Southern Pines.  Here are the remaining dates:

August 3:  The Ben Miller Band, a unique group whose offbeat instruments include a one-string washtub bass.

September 7:  Dangermuffin, a 3-member band whose musical styles include Americana, folk, and jam music.

October 5:  The Get Right Band, a funk, rock, and reggae band from Asheville NC.

Sunday Exchange

The Town of Aberdeen and The Rooster’s Wife team together to provide concerts on the second Sunday from June through September at 6:30 p.m. on the Exchange Lawn next to the Artist’s League.  Food trucks are onsite and you can bring your own beer.  Remaining dates:

August 12:  Gina Chavez whose music features a Latin flavor.

September 9:  Dead City Symphony playing a variety of music from artists such as Charlie Daniels Band and Foo Fighters.

All of these events are free, family-friendly, and open to the public.  Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs or blankets.  Enjoy being outdoors with family and friends listening to great music.

Moore County has a vibrant cultural scene that, in addition to a variety of concerts, includes art exhibits, theater, movies, and festivals throughout the year.  Check out what’s happening at The Pines Times and Choose Local MC.
