• Defense Sector Growth: Proximity to Fort Bragg is fueling defense-industry expansion—local businesses secured $25+ million in Department of Defense prime contracts in 2023, with companies like Kraken Kinetics, Titan Echelon, and AVA Technologies calling Moore County home.
• Healthcare: Nearly 30% of the private-sector workforce is employed in healthcare, led by FirstHealth of the Carolinas (6,300 employees, named to Forbes’ Best Employers list) and Pinehurst Medical Clinic.
• Workforce Development: The new Moore Innovative High School (launched August 2025) partners with Sandhills Community College to give students diplomas alongside workforce credentials, emphasizing skilled trades and applied sciences.
• Aviation Expansion: Moore County Airport is pursuing daily commercial service to Washington Dulles as early as spring 2027, pending a $3 million community fundraising effort, while also expanding corporate aviation infrastructure.
