FirstHealth of the Carolinas
Headquartered in Pinehurst, FirstHealth of the Carolinas is a private, not-for-profit health care network that employs over 6,300 employees with four hospitals, numerous specialty clinics and other facilities in a 15-county service area. FirstHealth’s flagship hospital, Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, receives numerous accolades and awards each year and is consistently ranked as a top hospital in the nation and state. In 2024, FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital was recognized as a top 10 hospital in North Carolina’s by not one, but three ranking sources, as well as a Best Hospital in America by Money magazine. In 2023, Moore Regional was named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals by Fortune/PINC AI for the third consecutive year and was the only hospital in North Carolina to earn the prestigious distinction.
Other significant medical care facilities operated by FirstHealth in Moore County include the 63,000 square-foot FirstHealth Fitness Center, the five-story Reid Heart Hospital, and the four-story, 120,000 square-foot Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Pinehurst Surgical Clinic
Pinehurst Surgical Clinic’s board-certified staff have been providing a wide range of multi-specialty surgical services in Moore County since 1946. Their flagship, state-of-the-art main facility is in Pinehurst, with other facilities in Moore, Scotland, Lee, Hoke, Montgomery, Richmond and Cumberland counties.
Its newest location at the Morganton Park Health & Life Sciences Campus in Southern Pines is a total of 278,000 square feet of new medical facility space, with other healthcare providers like FirstHealth of the Carolinas and Pinehurst Medical Clinic co-located on the site.

Pinehurst Medical Clinic, headquartered in Pinehurst, has over 120 providers in 18 locations throughout the Sandhills region. The wide range of primary and specialty care services include cardiology, pulmonary, gastroenterology, hematology, internal medicine, oncology, geriatrics, memory disorders and sleep disorders. Like our other healthcare providers, Pinehurst Medical Clinic continues to expand its facilities, staff and services to care for the residents of Moore County and surrounding counties.
